[00:00:00] You are listening to The Subconscious Expert, the podcast where your subconscious becomes your one way ticket to the mind blowing results you desire in your life and business. I've said it before and I will say it a hundred times again. Your business cannot outgrow your mindset, and if you want to grow your business, it always starts with growing your subconscious.

[00:00:26] So let's dive into the subconscious breakthrough you so deeply deserve. Hello, beautiful lady. Welcome back to The Subconscious Expert. Gosh, I am excited for today's podcast episode, and it is very, very fitting with the month that we are in. Just about to jump into in the subconscious membership, which is all about leading with intentionality in your business.

[00:00:52] I have a lot of people ask me around the intentionality in my business. And I've spoke about this on a couple of podcasts, quite a few podcast interviews that I've done around how intentional I am in my business and how I've really grown my business to support me. Not only as a CEO, but to support how I show up as a human being.

[00:01:15] And I think it's really, really important that you are very, very clear on how you work, how you show up, how you want to sell, how you speak to your clients, how your containers run, and it really has to be a reflection on you. on how your brain works, on how you learn, on how you deliver, so you can create the best environment to thrive.

[00:01:40] Because the secret to building multi six figure business and beyond, to be honest, and really unlocking that dream life of yours, is giving yourself the best conditions to thrive. Because there is no No perfect strategy. There is no one perfect business. There is no one perfect path. And if you want to really take your business to its highest potential and you to be running in the highest potential of yourself, it's how you operate as a human.

[00:02:18] And how you operate as a CEO. And time after time, I see entrepreneurs looking at others for answers on how they should run their business, on how they should set goals, on how they should show up for their clients, etc. Like I've already said, but here's the problem. You end up trying to fit into a box that isn't for you.

[00:02:42] And then you're in this container questioning, like, hmm, okay, like, why isn't this working for me? And it's usually because the person that you're looking up to, or the person that you're trying to replicate online, might be very different from you. Her strengths might be very different. Her challenges Might be very different.

[00:03:03] Her triggers might be very different. The way she works and operates in her business might be very different. Her lifestyle, the way she shows up, her energy might be very different. And what works well for her might not feel as easy to see through for you. And when you're constantly second guessing yourself and searching for that perfect strategy from others, you'll never be able to fully commit to anything that actually works for you.

[00:03:35] So what, what I want to do today and what I want to talk about today and kind of dive into from a subconscious and a neuroscience perspective is really developing intentionality in your business that feels true to who you are and how you feel. You want to run your business. That is why whenever you work with me, no matter in what container, it is never a cookie cutter, ever for me.

[00:04:05] I know my clients as humans, as CEOs. I know how I deliver differently from one client to another. I know this is, you know, why I have so many options to learn and consume content in the membership because every, everyone takes Information Indifferently. And actually, I really want you to start having a look at the reason behind your productivity, your procrastination, your misalignment, your frustration in your business.

[00:04:40] And that's usually coming down to the fact that you're trying to do something that currently works against the way that you work. And I have so many Clients that come to me and they're like, Oh, I, you know, I love setting goals and usually I'll set goals to feel productive, but I never fricking hit them.

[00:04:59] Like I'll never hit them. And actually this is part of the process of you trying to do business in a way that doesn't suit you. And there is no one size fits all. There really isn't. And we're going to be talking about that today. So let's kind of break down. From a neuroscience perspective behind, I'm going to call it goal setting.

[00:05:24] I know that's really self development y and a little bit, a little bit too macro for me, but in the way of like you looking at what you want to achieve in your business, how you want to achieve it and really reaching your goals, right? It is goal setting if we actually look at it. So let's. Start by breaking down what's actually happening in your brain when we set these goals.

[00:05:50] The first thing that happens when we goal set is we primarily engage the prefrontal cortex. Now, the prefrontal cortex, my God, is something I go on about inside the subconscious membership so often. It is the CEO of your brain and it really is where The planning, the decision making, the logical thinking happens.

[00:06:19] And what I see with entrepreneurs a lot of the time is the prefrontal cortex doesn't get used as much as the amygdala. Now, if these are words that are quite new to you, I'm just going to go through like them in very, very open, As uncomplicated as possible because this is really where we get into the neuroscience and a lot of the work that I do inside the membership is from a neuroscience perspective because you know me, I take the woo, I take the mindset and I go, this is actually what's happening inside your brain, which helps you understand it more.

[00:06:57] So the prefrontal cortex actually lives right at the front of the brain. of your forehead, kind of in between your eyes. And it is the part of the brain, like I said, that's responsible for planning, decision making, really, really logical thinking. And really, where we want to be in business. Especially if we are working towards a goal.

[00:07:24] Now, like I said, what happens is the amygdala, which is where we feel all our feelings can play a very big part in that. Because if we don't have the backing from Our subconscious beliefs, and there's a lot of overwhelm and there's a lot of uncertainty and there's a lot of questioning, we go straight into the amygdala, straight into the limbic part of the brain, which is all, all of the feels, and it doesn't allow us to tap into the prefrontal cortex as much as we'd like to when we're setting goals.

[00:08:01] Now. When you set a goal, your brain is essentially mapping out a path to achieve that outcome. And I always say to my clients, your subconscious needs the path of least resistance. So we need to make that path as clear as possible. Now we're not going to know every in and outs, and this is where the detachment comes in.

[00:08:27] And this is where we really can start to go, okay, I know what. What I can bring to the table to get me to this path and it's, and I'm okay to have the universe meet me halfway, but we need to have that path, that kind of clarity. This is why I give myself options. It could look like this and it could look like that.

[00:08:45] Just so we have these options of really understanding. Now, this is where things get a little bit tricky because the brain's reward system, which you will know the word dopamine, it's heavily influenced by dopamine. And actually this reward system very, very often craves a lot of immediate gratification.

[00:09:10] So when you're in business and when we're setting long term goals, naturally Very, very naturally, there is going to be tension between the logical, the planning, the planning, the CEO, the prefrontal cortex of our brain. There is going to be tension between that. And the more impulsive, reward seeking part.

[00:09:40] Now what happens with this is this can lead to a cycle where we feel productive just by setting the goals, but our brain seeks out short term rewards that sabotage the process. And this is where we have this constant cycle, because this Instant gratification, this immediate gratification that a lot of my clients come to me with is actually stopping them from committing to the long term.

[00:10:13] And actually this is where you have to be so intentional because if you don't have that intentionality in the long term, if you don't have the intentionality in where you are leading your business and you're just kind of showing up on a whim. Without a plan of action, you, your brain, the dopamine that, that your brain wants to feel is like, well, that's really fucking far away and I ain't sticking around for it.

[00:10:44] In fact, I'll do everything in my power for you to not get there because that's going to be a long time until we can feel the dopamine, until we can feel the immediate gratification. So, um, What we want to do is we want to really make sure that we are being intentional in our business, that things are leading to different things.

[00:11:06] And this is pretty much how I set up the whole of my 2024. If I'm honest, it was very much the long term plan. So Soon as I stepped into 2024, everything I launched, everything that I went out with, everything that happened in the business, was for maternity leave. Everything that I did. Now, I started the year in January, maternity leave didn't kick in really till the start of August.

[00:11:38] So, I had to be very intentional. with what I was doing throughout the whole of this year, throughout the whole of 2024, to know that come maternity leave, I had everything set up. Really, really intentional behavior. And actually what this helped me do was really show up for it. hit every goal. In fact, a lot of my team were like, Beck, I honestly don't know how you did it pregnant.

[00:12:10] Like, one of my team members, George, was like, some days I was like, how are you doing this? Like, I wasn't even showing up as much as you and I wasn't the one that was pregnant. But because I had that intentionality behind it, I wasn't searching for that immediate gratification because I knew what I was doing it for.

[00:12:31] So this is where we can really start to bring in that intentionality and find out ways to work for you. But I just wanted to speak about kind of the long term goals and the intentionality behind it. So when we have a lot of decisions to make in our business, If you're setting a lot of these goals and you're showing up in a way that's kind of not serving you right now, a lot of things can start to happen.

[00:13:00] And one of the ones is decision fatigue. Because when we have a lot of choices around us and you're not sure what path to go or how to do it or what What that's going to look like, decision fatigue will start to come in. I have a lot of clients who are like, I woke up and like, before it's even time to start my day, I've had to decide a hundred thousand things.

[00:13:27] And then I'm bloody knackered by the time I get to working on my business. So the more fatigued we become, the more decisions you have to make, the more fatigued your willpower. Becomes as well, which makes it harder to stick to the long term goals. Now, combine this with the subconscious mind. Christ, we're throwing in a cocktail of things where many of our deeply held beliefs and the fears reside.

[00:13:57] We've really got a recipe for setting yourself up for failure, even if you don't realize it. Quote unquote failure. There's never failure, but the way that you show up, you can really start to help yourself with this intentional understanding and goal setting and how you work best around that and having the subconscious mind support you.

[00:14:20] So let's imagine that In January of 2024, you set out to, um, double your business revenue this year. Now, consciously, you were very freaking excited. You were very motivated. But subconsciously, You might be grappling with the fear of success. What will people think of me if I suddenly doubled my business revenue this year?

[00:14:51] Will I be able to handle more responsibility that comes with that? Will I be able to show up? Like, is it going to make me more tired? And these subconscious fears can sabotage very, very quietly, very, very sneakily, Can sabotage your efforts lead into procrastination, distraction, self sabotage. I know you know the drill.

[00:15:15] So there's a cocktail here, as you can see, but really when we know how we work best as humans, from an intentionality point of view, and then we're starting to match the subconscious beliefs behind it, that's when we start to make better decisions. Big freaking moves in our business. So how do we overcome this?

[00:15:40] Like I said, throughout the whole of this, the key lies in intentionality. And if you are listening to this on the day or the week that it goes out, like I said, the whole of September inside the subconscious membership. is around intentionality in your business and it's really getting into the understanding of how you work in your business, how we set goals that you stick to in your business and really how we can be the most intentional with both your strategy and how you're showing up as a CEO.

[00:16:14] Now, intentionality isn't just about setting goals, Intentionality in your business is about aligning those goals with your deeper beliefs, beliefs that serve you, and your deeper values. And This is where I see my clients have so much resistance because a lot of the time, like I said, they're trying to fit themselves in a box of a strategy that's worked for some, someone else, or a way that's worked for someone else, or a business model that's worked for someone else.

[00:16:56] And actually what they need to do is go back to the deeper values and those Really solid beliefs, because it's about making sure that what you want on the surface matches what you truly believe is possible beneath it. And that is the key. That is truly the key, because if we don't have this connection with your values and your purpose and your why, but equally with a belief system that truly believes it's possible, There is always going to be procrastination, self sabotage, overwhelm, etc.

[00:17:43] This is why the subconscious work is so important in your business. It really truly is because it can take you from smashing goals and being very intentional and showing up every single day for what you want to literally wasting months and months and months on end. So. Let's kind of have a little look at some of the goals that you are currently setting in your business, maybe that you keep sabotaging on and I really want to have a look at the purpose behind them because when you're clear about the purpose behind your goals, what it's going to do, it's going to create such a powerful alignment between your conscious and your subconscious mind.

[00:18:36] So, for example, the example that I used just a moment ago, if you want to double your revenue, why? Ask yourself where this is coming from. Is it to create more freedom in your life? Is it to maybe provide better opportunities for your family? Is it to What is the purpose behind that? What is the reason?

[00:19:07] And I think a lot of the time in the entrepreneur space, we get so, um, We get so like very, we hold on so tightly to what people deem to be successful and what people speak to in their messaging as success factors that you believe you want that and that might not be the case. Now if it is the case, find the reasons why you want it, find the reasons why you want the multi six figures, find the reasons why you want, To be on the stage, find the reasons why you want to write the book and make sure it's coming from that very aligned purpose and reason, not because you believe it's going to make you feel more successful or more worthy.

[00:19:55] This is where we get this discrepancy. So when your goals, especially in your business, are tied to a deeper purpose, your subconscious mind is more likely to support you in achieving them. Exactly like I said, with the whole of my maternity leave, right, I was climbing a mountain, for the most of my pregnancy, in the way of what we were setting up back end, and what I was launching, how I was showing up, the money I was making, every reason, and everything that I did, in the whole of 2024 was to support me, my family, my new baby girl in maternity leave.

[00:20:47] And that purpose and that mission and that why was so strong for me that I smashed it. I freaking smashed it. Now. The way that I work and how I work has always been very intentional, but having that driver behind me as well just added this, like, absolute next level of, of action taking. And, you know, When you don't have that clear purpose, or what I find happens a lot of the time is you have the purpose, but you just, you forget, you haven't tapped into your why.

[00:21:25] You haven't tapped into the reasons why you started your business for ages, and you're on this hamster wheel of just worrying about what content to put out when you've actually forgot why you are putting the content out for, and who you want to to be speaking to, and where you want the business to go, and what you want that to look like.

[00:21:44] No wonder you're procrastinating because it's like, well, I'm kind of not working towards anything right now. And really having that intentionality behind it. So, start with the why. Every time you are putting something into place in your business, take a moment to reflect on why that is important to you.

[00:22:08] What Deeper need is it fulfilling? What value is it fulfilling? What is the reason why? And really start to tap into that and really actually bring that into your awareness daily. One of the visualizations that I've got inside the book is of the membership for September to support with this business intentionality is a daily visualization for you to tap into the bigger goal, the bigger picture, because a lot of the time we forget it.

[00:22:41] We're in the day to day, you're in the thick of it. You're in the doing. And a lot of entrepreneurs are big picture thinkers, and we need to be connecting to that, and it's really, really important. So going back to that, and I know that just sounds so goddamn cliche, but it's so powerful when you go back to the reasons why.

[00:23:05] And I think this is what excited me the most when the NLP school and everything dropped in, is because I'd been connected so much to my why over this year, that it was like, Well of course, like of course I would go and do that next, like of course this is my next step. So really try and go back to that as well.

[00:23:25] Now when we look at the blockages, subconsciously, around things that might be holding you back, it's really important that you start to understand where that is coming from. And, you know, When you have a look and you, you've had a look at your purpose, you've had a look at the kind of reasons behind it, I want you to very, just very slightly have a look at the subconscious beliefs behind it as well.

[00:23:57] And the first step is to identify them. So when you have taken a goal that you want to move into and really had a look at the intentionality behind that, I want you to actually have a little think around. Any fear or doubts or phrases that you hear your mind come up with. And start to have a little look at some patterns of yours.

[00:24:27] Start to have a look at some maybe potential spirals of yours. This is one of the mindset trainings inside the Subconscious Membership. Really having a look at your patterns and your spirals because we can learn so much from them. you Now, have you noticed a pattern where you've set a goal and you haven't achieved it and really having a look at the underlining reasons behind that, identifying the pattern, identifying the behaviors, identifying the understanding, like the reasons why behind that is going to be very, very helpful.

[00:25:06] When you can start to reframe that for yourself, when you can start to really understand that and move through that, you are going to commit to those goals more. You are going to commit to those, that intentionality more. So, I'm going to wrap up here because I've thrown a lot of, a lot of things for you to ponder on and think about.

[00:25:26] Think about, but if you really want to start being intentional in your business, it comes back to truly understanding you and truly understanding how you work best, how you work best, how your subconscious supports you in what you're trying to achieve and really having that both understanding of the prefrontal cortex.

[00:25:54] And the understanding of the subconscious beliefs for you to be able to show up every single day, because like I said, there is not a one size fits all at all. And you need to understand whether you thrive under rigid systems or more fluidity, we've got the whole. A whole abundance of neuroscience of motivation, where all, all of us, all different people are motivated by different things.

[00:26:25] The carrot, the stick, the fear, the satisfaction, understanding what drives you. And that's going to really help too. And then your stress responses, your performance, like this is all of the things that I'm going to be going into inside of the Subconscious Membership for September. So if you are currently in a space where you're setting goals to feel productive, you're never really hitting them.

[00:26:51] And you're like, I really want to become so intentional in my business with my strategy. With my content, with how I'm showing up on social media, with how I'm selling, it starts with looking at your subconscious mind, really having a look at the beliefs behind that, understanding them, and understanding from a neuroscience perspective how we harness the prefrontal cortex and really work with the amygdala so it doesn't start to take over the show.

[00:27:25] Take over the show. And that's not me saying, you know, You know, feel, don't feel your feelings a hundred percent. It's me saying that we want to be able to regulate the feelings so you can still be intentional. So I hope you've enjoyed today's podcast episode. I will see you on the next one. And if you do want to come and join the subconscious membership, I'll pop the link in the description notes in the show notes, and you can come and join us for September, which is all about intentionality and intentionality.
